A Racine man some people may have known only as “Roach” is now facing an additional 23 counts of sexual assault of a child, sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography involving four more children. Investigators are also looking into whether there could be more victims outside of Racine.
28-year-old Alexander Richter was charged earlier this week with 26 counts of allegedly sexually assaulting two children in his care and filming those encounters. Investigators say the alleged assaults occurred while Richter was babysitting the children of people he met as a student at Gateway Technical College in Racine.
At a news conference Thursday, Racine County District Attorney Richard Chiapete said the new charges are based on the DVDs recovered from Richter’s apartment.
Chiapete says their focus right now is on getting the story out there to see if more victims will come forward. He says they want to make sure those individuals can get the help they need.
Racine Police Chief Art Howell says they are also working with a national agency to determine if the images found in Richter’s apartment had been shared with others.
In court Thursday, Richter’s bond was increased to a million dollars. A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for November 21st.
