Marquette Law School’s last pre-recall poll is out. The final poll prior to next Tuesday’s election has Scott Walker with a stable but narrow lead over his challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. “This week’s poll shows a seven point margin favoring Governor Walker,” said pollster Charles Franklin. “Two weeks ago it was a six point margin. We’re not seeing much of a trend either up or down over these last two weeks of the campaign.” The poll shows Walker with a 52 to 45 percent advantage over Barrett.
Franklin said voters perception of the candidates are similarly divided, although Walker has more of an advantage there. “In Scott Walker’s case, 51 percent have a favorable view of him, 46 percent have an unfavorable, and just three percent say that they can’t say. Tom Barrett has the same unfavorable rating, 46 percent, but only 41 percent favorable.” The margin of error on the poll is plus or minus four-point-one percent. A partisan poll released by the Barrett campaign put the candidates at 49 percent each. The recall election is June 5th.
