A Wausau area couple accused of denying medical care to their dying diabetic daughter made their initial court appearances Wednesday, on second-degree reckless homicide charges. Dale and Leilani Neumann of rural Weston were released on a $200,000 signature bond and a $50,000 property bond. The Neumanns are charged with denying their daughter Kara medical care and praying over her instead. The 11-year-old girl died Easter Sunday .
The Neumann's are also ordered not to leave the state without the court's permission and to follow conditions of a safety plan that lets them keep their three remaining children. Prosecutors say the couple have been cooperative and are not considered a flight risk. Defense attorney Gene Linehan says the Neumanns want a quick end to the case. They return to court for a preliminary hearing June 10th.
